Introduction

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, December 5, 1999. This November, The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design will present that latest products and graphics by the world's most prominent international designers and selected by a jury for awards in the Museum's annual GOOD DESIGNT Show.
GOOD DESIGN is the world's oldest and most prestigious awards program that bestows international recognition to designers and manufacturers for advancing new and innovative product thinking and originality and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered standard product and consumer design.

This year, GOOD DESIGN Awards were won by designers and manufacturers from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States. The GOOD DESIGN Show opens at The Chicago Athenaeum's Main Museum (6 North Michigan Avenue) and continues through March 31, 2000.

In this year's edition of GOOD DESIGN, over 2,000 submissions were received by The Chicago Athenaeum from 40 countries attesting to the staying power of the Museum's historic GOOD DESIGN Show.
Over 100 products and graphic designs were selected by a distinguished jury of recognized architects, designers, and authorities in the design world for recent designs worthy of the Museum's GOOD DESIGN Award, attesting to the design energy, vitality, and current innovation in global design today.
